Reading the screen
Live vs snapshot. Prices in the ticker and the Spot panel stream from Coinbase several times a second. Everything else comes from a snapshot the collector takes every 15 minutes; its age is in the top bar.
Range bars show where today's value sits within a recent range (left = low, right = high). They turn a bare number into context: "is this high or low for recently?"
Colour. Green is the accent: rising values, positive funding, and signals that are away from normal. Down moves use light grey plus a ▼ arrow, so colour is never the only cue.

Signals
The top strip boils the dashboard down to six readings. Each one is a single, transparent rule on public data. They describe conditions; they are not trade calls.
- Leverage
- Average annualised BTC perp funding across Deribit, Hyperliquid and OKX. Below 0%: shorts pay. 0–8%: neutral. 8–20%: elevated. Above 20%: overheated, which is when crowded longs tend to get flushed.
- Volatility
- BTC DVOL (30-day implied vol). Below 35: compressed. 35–55: normal. 55–75: elevated. Above 75: stressed. Compressed vol often comes before large moves.
- Carry
- Annualised premium of the front quarterly BTC future over spot: the cash-and-carry yield. Below 0%: backwardation, which is rare and stressed. 0–5%: thin. 5–12%: normal. Above 12%: rich, with strong demand for leveraged longs.
- Liquidity
- 30-day change in USD stablecoin supply. Below −2%: contracting. ±2%: flat. Above +2%: expanding, meaning new dollars are coming on-chain.
- Sentiment
- Crypto Fear & Greed index (0–100). Most useful at the extremes, below 25 or above 75.
- Macro link
- 30-day correlation of BTC daily returns with the Nasdaq 100. Above 0.5: BTC is trading as a risk asset. 0.2–0.5: loose. −0.2 to 0.2: decoupled. Below −0.2: inverse.
Metrics
- Spot
- Last trade on Coinbase (USD). The 24h range bar shows where price sits between the 24-hour low and high. 7d and 30d changes and market caps come from CoinGecko.
- Market structure
- Dominance is BTC's and ETH's share of total crypto market cap. Rising BTC dominance usually means money is moving from altcoins to bitcoin. ETH/BTC is the relative strength of ether. Stablecoin share is stablecoin supply as a share of total market cap; a high share means a lot of capital is sitting on the sidelines.
- Perp funding
- Perpetual futures have no expiry. A periodic funding payment keeps their price near spot. Positive funding means longs pay shorts. Venues pay at different intervals (Hyperliquid hourly, Deribit and OKX every 8h), so all rates are annualised to compare like for like. Hyperliquid and OKX have a small built-in baseline of about 10.95% a year, so read changes relative to that.
- Basis curve
- Each dot is a dated Deribit future: its annualised premium over spot, plotted against days to expiry. An upward-sloping curve (contango) is normal. A flat or inverted curve signals stress or heavy hedging.
- Implied volatility (DVOL)
- Deribit's DVOL is the market's expected annualised volatility over the next 30 days, derived from option prices. It's the crypto equivalent of the VIX. The range bar places today within the last 30 days.
- Open interest
- The total value of open perpetual positions. Rising OI with rising price means new leverage is chasing the move; falling OI means positions are closing. Shown per venue.
- Options positioning
- Put/call open-interest ratio on Deribit. Above 1 means more puts than calls are open (hedging or bearish); below 1 means calls dominate. Options OI is the notional value of all open options.
- Our funding history
- Free APIs don't give cross-venue funding history, so the collector records it every hour. This chart exists only because the system stores its own time series.
- Stablecoin supply
- Total circulating USD-pegged stablecoins (DefiLlama). Growth is new on-chain dollar liquidity, and it often precedes inflows into crypto.
- DeFi TVL
- Total value locked in DeFi protocols. It moves with prices, so compare it with ETH's move.
- Cross-asset
- Daily closes from Yahoo Finance: S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, US Dollar Index, 10-year Treasury yield (change shown in basis points), gold and VIX.
- BTC correlation
- Pearson correlation of daily log returns, over 30 and 90 days. +1 means the two move together, −1 means they move opposite, 0 means unrelated.
- Fear & Greed
- alternative.me's composite of volatility, momentum, social activity and dominance. Crude, but its extremes are informative.
- Hashrate
- Total computing power securing Bitcoin, in exahashes per second. It rises with miner investment and falls when mining becomes unprofitable.
- Blockspace
- Fee rates needed to confirm a transaction within a given time, in sat/vB. The retarget bar shows progress to the next difficulty adjustment (every 2,016 blocks, about 2 weeks) and the estimated change.
- Wire
- Headlines from publishers, regulators (SEC, CFTC, Fed, ECB, FCA) and Surf. When several outlets cover the same story, it appears once. Each story gets a transparent institutional score, and the terms it matched are shown under the headline.

Every 15 minutes a GitHub Actions job runs two Python scripts. It commits the results as JSON to the repo and republishes this site. If a source fails, its last good data is kept and marked stale.
